Israel to Produce JDAMs Independently by 2026 Amid Increased Defense Production Efforts
Israel aims to independently manufacture Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) within two years, enhancing its military capabilities. This shift follows a partial arms freeze by the U.S. and is part of a broader strategy to boost self-sufficiency in defense manufacturing, particularly munitions.

Israel plans to produce JDAM bombs independently within two years, following heightened efforts to reduce reliance on U.S. military supplies. This initiative began in late 2024 after the U.S. imposed a partial arms freeze due to military actions in Gaza.
Agreements worth around NIS 1 billion were signed with Elbit Systems in January 2025 to enhance self-sufficiency in munitions. The Defense Ministry reported over 120,000 tons of military supplies were transferred to Israel from the U.S. in 2025.
Additionally, revenue from Arrow interceptor sales to Germany has facilitated increased production capabilities. These developments may influence Israel's defense export capacity and operational readiness in upcoming conflicts.
