ISRO Invites Industry for Bharatiya Antariksh Station Construction

SPACE ECONOMY

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has invited Indian industry to participate in constructing the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS) by issuing an Expression of Interest (EoI) for two BAS-01 modules. The initiative aims to enhance self-reliance in space technology and is limited to qualified Indian entities.

Interested parties have until 8 March 2026 to submit their EoIs. The BAS-01 will support long-term human presence in space, facilitating advanced research and development in microgravity. Additionally, the SpaDeX mission, conducted on 16 January 2025, successfully demonstrated space docking capabilities, making India the fourth nation to achieve this.

The docking technology is essential for satellite servicing and future space station assembly. The EoI and SpaDeX mission mark significant advancements in India's space ambitions and could boost the domestic space economy to $44 billion by 2033.
