Italy's Largest Prefab Data Center Completed in Five Weeks
Sirti Digital Solutions has constructed Italy's largest prefabricated data center for €28 million in just five weeks, utilizing 100% recyclable materials. This facility, located at Italy's State Mint, will support the government’s public services app, IO, while showcasing advanced sustainable design and earthquake resilience.

A prefabricated data center by Sirti Digital Solutions was completed in five weeks at Italy's State Mint, with a total cost of €28 million ($32.5 million). Covering approximately 1,200 sqm (12,915 sq ft), it houses 200 racks with a total IT capacity of 1.5MW and a PUE of 1.25.
Constructed by a joint venture of HiRef and Smitt using 44 modular components, the facility is made entirely of recyclable materials and incorporates earthquake-proof technology developed with the Polytechnic University of Milan. It is designed to withstand severe weather, including winds over 200 kmph (124 mph).
The Italian government plans to use this data center for the IO public services app, enhancing digital infrastructure in the region. The rapid construction and sustainability focus highlight the sector's evolution towards eco-friendly solutions.
