Iverson eFuels Cancels Norway Ammonia Plant Plans, Shifts Focus to Data Center Development
Iverson eFuels has scrapped its plans for a green ammonia plant in Sauda, Norway, due to delays and loss of grid capacity. The company will now explore developing a data center at the site. The ammonia plant, initially set to launch in 2027, faced multiple delays and lost its allocation of 270MW grid capacity from Statnett. The new focus on a data center aims to utilize the resources invested in the ammonia project for local business development.

Iverson eFuels has canceled its green ammonia plant project in Sauda, Norway, following delays that resulted in the loss of allocated grid capacity from Statnett. The plant, intended to produce 200,000 tonnes of green ammonia with a 240MW electrolysis unit, was originally scheduled for completion in 2027 but faced multiple postponements to 2031.
Due to the project being over two years behind schedule, Statnett withdrew its allocation of 270MW grid capacity. Iverson now plans to pivot towards establishing a data center at the site to leverage the resources already invested in the project.
