Japan and Singapore Sign Energy Cooperation Framework for Clean Hydrogen and Ammonia Development
Japan and Singapore have signed the Energy, Sustainability and Climate Change Cooperation Framework to advance clean energy technologies, including green and blue hydrogen, ammonia, and carbon capture. The agreement celebrates 60 years of diplomatic relations and aims to transform Jurong Island into a logistics hub for energy transition in the Indo-Pacific. Key projects include a hydrogen-ready power plant and a 700 MW low-emission data center, all powered by clean energy. The pact also seeks to establish common standards for green finance and stimulate joint investments across Southeast Asia.

Japan and Singapore have established the Energy, Sustainability and Climate Change Cooperation Framework to enhance their energy sectors and achieve carbon neutrality. Signed by Japanese Minister Ryosei Akazawa and Singaporean Minister Tan See Leng, the agreement focuses on developing green and blue hydrogen, ammonia as a zero-emission fuel, and carbon capture technologies.
Jurong Island will serve as the operational hub, featuring Mitsubishi Power's hydrogen-ready power plant and a 700 MW low-emission data center. The framework aims to set common standards for green finance and promote renewable energy investments in Southeast Asia.
