Japanese Multinational Air Water Plans Second Unit Near Bengaluru and Explores Biogas Production
Air Water, a leading Japanese multinational in industrial gases, is set to expand its footprint in Karnataka with plans for a second production unit near Bengaluru. This initiative comes on the heels of its successful operations at an existing facility in Vijayanagar. The new unit aims not only to enhance production capabilities but also to delve into biogas generation utilizing sustainable raw materials like cow dung and iron pulp, a move that could significantly meet local energy demands.
Industries Minister M.B. Patil, who is currently leading a high-powered delegation in Japan, has been proactive in fostering industrial partnerships. During discussions with Konoike, a prominent engineering and industrial services firm, the delegation explored potential joint ventures. Konoike's interest in sourcing local partners aligns with Patil's commitment to facilitate suitable collaborations, underscoring Karnataka's strategic importance in India's industrial landscape.
The delegation's visit also encompassed the vibrant Osaka World Expo 2025, where they engaged with various global firms to scout for collaborative opportunities that could further bolster Karnataka's industrial framework. Notably, Shinko Nameplate has announced a substantial investment of ₹100 crore to set up a manufacturing unit for decorative plastic components for vehicles in Bengaluru. Similarly, Toyota Group's Catalar plans to deepen its investment in Bidadi, committing an additional ₹140 crore by 2030 to expand its operations.
Moreover, Saginomiya, known for its advanced automatic control equipment, has expressed keen interest in establishing a facility in Karnataka, further validating the state's growing reputation as an attractive destination for Japanese investments. With these developments, Karnataka is poised to become a pivotal hub for international business, fueled by strategic initiatives and robust partnerships in various sectors.
