Jeonnam and Gwangju Announce Bid to Host 2028 G20 Summit

On February 11, Governor Kim Young-rok announced the ambition to host the 2028 G20 Summit in the Integrated Special City of Jeonnam and Gwangju. This initiative is a response to President Lee Jae-myung’s commitment to regional development.
The region emphasizes its historical commitment to democracy, human rights, and peace, and its potential in renewable energy with 444 GW capacity. The plan includes linking Gwangju's AI Data Center with Jeonnam's AI Computing Center and utilizing various venues for cultural diplomacy, showcasing the region's innovative and cultural strengths as solutions to global issues.
