Jerome Township Approves Two Data Center Complexes Despite Moratorium
Jerome Township has approved two data center complexes totaling over 2.3 million square feet, despite a nine-month moratorium on such developments. The approvals were granted for projects submitted before the moratorium, which aimed to halt zoning certificate approvals for data centers. The township is also considering broader zoning changes that will not retroactively affect the newly approved projects.

Jerome Township has approved two data center complexes totaling over 2.3 million square feet despite a nine-month moratorium on such developments. The moratorium, enacted in September, was intended to halt all zoning certificate approvals for data centers.
However, zoning certificates for four complexes were issued in December, including the two approved projects, as they were submitted prior to the moratorium. The approved developments include the Thomas Industrial Development and the Starkey Industrial Development, both of which are expected to be audible to nearby residential areas. The township is also working on broader zoning changes that may affect future data center applications, but these new regulations will not apply retroactively to existing approvals.
