JFE Holdings and Mitsubishi Sign MOU for Power and Data Center Project in Japan
JFE Holdings and Mitsubishi Corporation have signed a second MOU to establish a joint power and data center project in Ohgishima, targeting a 60 MW operation by 2031. This initiative aims to address rising data center demand and enhance Japan's industrial capacity through stable power supply and potential hydrogen energy integration.

JFE Holdings, Inc. and Mitsubishi Corporation have finalized a second MOU to advance a joint venture for a power and data center project in the Ohgishima area, aiming for operational commencement of an initial 60 MW data center by fiscal year 2031. The site, approximately five hectares adjacent to JFE's existing 190 MW power plant, is strategically located about 20 km from central Tokyo and is designed to support future expansions in line with increasing demand.
This project also includes plans for a hydrogen hub to facilitate green energy supply, addressing sustainability challenges while catering to the growing need for data centers in Japan. The initiative represents a significant step toward enhancing the nation’s industrial competitiveness by ensuring a reliable power source for the tech sector.
