John Paulson Sells 9.7% Stake in Greek Water Utility EYDAP to GEK TERNA for €103.4 Million
John Paulson has sold his entire 9.7% stake in EYDAP, the Greek water utility, to GEK TERNA for €103.4 million. The deal, executed at €10 per share, generated a capital gain of about €17.4 million from Paul's initial investment of €86 million in 2014. However, compared to potential returns from an S&P 500 investment, the EYDAP investment resulted in significant opportunity loss.

John Paulson has divested his 9.7% stake in EYDAP, a water utility in Athens, to GEK TERNA for €103.4 million, executed at €10 per share. Paulson's initial investment in May 2014 was €86 million for a 9.99% stake.
The transaction resulted in a capital gain of approximately €17.4 million. However, had the same investment been made in an S&P 500 passive fund, it would have yielded around €311.3 million by 2026, indicating a significant opportunity loss for Paulson.
