Jordan to Invest $985 Million in Risha Gas Field Connection to Arab Gas Pipeline

WIND ENERGY

Jordan plans a $985 million investment to connect the Risha gas field in the eastern desert to the Arab gas pipeline. This initiative is part of a broader energy investment plan approved by the Jordanian government, which includes projects totaling approximately $4.2 billion across gas, electricity, solar, and wind power.

The connection project specifically involves constructing a pipeline from the Risha field to the existing Arab gas pipeline. This link is expected to facilitate gas exports from Risha and enhance the domestic gas distribution network upon the field's completion.

The Arab gas pipeline, which runs 1,200 kilometers from Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, was established over 20 years ago to transport Egyptian gas to Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. The pipeline has faced operational challenges, including a reversal of flow from Jordan to Egypt between 2015 and 2018 due to gas shortages and supply issues.
