Jorf Lasfar Port Expansion: Strategic Initiative for Green Batteries and Fuels
The National Ports Agency (ANP) has initiated geotechnical studies for the 'Green Basin' extension of Jorf Lasfar port, aiming to position it as a hub for green hydrogen and battery materials. This project integrates clean energy sectors and anticipates future logistical demands, supported by the largest phosphoric acid production platform globally.

The ANP has launched two tenders for geotechnical studies related to the Jorf Lasfar port extension, part of the 'Green Basin' initiative. This project includes over 3,500 linear meters of new docks and aims to support the growing clean-energy sectors, particularly green hydrogen.
The extension will enhance Jorf Lasfar's role as a strategic mineral port, fostering an ecosystem focused on battery materials and green fuels. Key industrial initiatives include Cobco's battery precursor production, Fluoralpha's phosphate byproduct processing, and investments in green hydrogen derivatives.
The development of sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) at Jorf Lasfar also positions Morocco as a leader in green energy production. These advancements could significantly enhance the region’s competitiveness in the global clean energy market.
