Jupiter Power Proposes 200-Megawatt Battery Storage System in Sayreville with Community Open House Scheduled
Jupiter Power is proposing a 200-megawatt battery energy storage system in Sayreville, aimed at enhancing regional power grid reliability. A community open house is set for March 26 at the Sayreville Active Adult Center for residents to learn about the project and technology. The facility will be located on a vacant site along River Road, formerly a coal-fired power plant, and is expected to begin construction in 2027.

Jupiter Power plans to develop a 200-megawatt battery energy storage system in Sayreville at a site on River Road, previously occupied by a coal-fired power plant. The project aims to enhance the reliability of the regional power grid by storing electricity during high supply and releasing it during peak demand.
A community open house will take place on March 26 at the Sayreville Active Adult Center for residents to learn about the project. Construction is anticipated to start in 2027, following environmental cleanup of the site.
