K-Challenge Lab and Delavergne Shipyard Collaborate on Hydrogen-Powered Maritime Vessel
K-Challenge Lab and Delavergne Shipyard are developing a hydrogen-powered workboat to decarbonize maritime operations. The 12-meter vessel will undergo sea trials in summer 2026 in Lorient, with commercial deployment planned for the same year. The project, supported by the Brittany Region, integrates a hydrogen fuel cell, secure storage, and a mobile refueling station, targeting immediate emissions reduction in the professional maritime sector.

K-Challenge Lab and Delavergne Shipyard are collaborating to create a hydrogen-powered professional vessel, a step towards decarbonizing maritime operations. The 12-meter aluminium workboat, with sea trials set for summer 2026 in Lorient, aims for commercial deployment later that year.
The partnership focuses on a fully integrated hydrogen propulsion system, including on-board power generation, secure storage, and a mobile refueling station. Delavergne Shipyard will construct the vessel based on its Exocet 10 platform. The project addresses technical and operational barriers to hydrogen adoption in the maritime sector.
