K2 Space has completed a $500 million Series D funding round, leading to a valuation of $6.8 billion. Co-led by Kleiner Perkins and Iconiq, the round included participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners and CapitalG.
The startup, which specializes in large satellites for high-power applications, launched its first satellite on April 2, 2026, at a production cost of approximately $15 million each. K2 Space has secured over $1 billion in contracts, with clients from both government and commercial sectors, including the U.S.
Space Force. The funding indicates a shift towards more economical satellite solutions, which could support future space data center operations.
