Kai Wörner Appointed COO and Managing Director of Cellcentric Effective January 2026
Kai Wörner has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Cellcentric, effective January 2026. He will oversee operational business and contribute to the company's transition to industrial-scale manufacturing of fuel cell systems for heavy-duty applications.
Wörner has extensive operational experience, previously serving as COO for EU/US operations at AESC and holding leadership roles at Volkswagen and Bosch. Cellcentric, a joint venture between Daimler Truck and the Volvo Group founded in 2021, is developing fuel cells for heavy-duty vehicles and is constructing a factory in Weilheim, Germany.
Daimler Buses has started test drives of its hydrogen fuel cell coach, the H2 Coach. The company aims to contribute to the decarbonization of heavy-duty transport and currently employs over 560 staff.
