Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield Receives $1.3M for Expansion Project
The Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield will undergo an expansion funded by $1.3 million from the Department of Veterans Affairs, creating 1,100 new burial plots for veterans and their families. The project includes 550 plots for in-ground caskets and 550 for cremations, along with the installation of a bronze Gettysburg Address sign and a Space Force medallion. The in-ground cremation garden is expected to be completed next month, while the casket garden is scheduled for completion in May.

The Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Winfield is set to expand with a funding investment of $1,356,477 from the Department of Veterans Affairs. This includes $929,477 in new funding and $427,000 for reimbursement to the state.
The project will create 1,100 new plots, consisting of 550 for in-ground caskets and 550 for in-ground cremations. The expansion is designed to serve Kansas veterans and their eligible family members. Additionally, a bronze Gettysburg Address sign will be installed, and a Space Force medallion will be added to the committal shelter. The in-ground cremation garden is expected to be ready next month, while the casket garden is slated for completion in May.
