Karis Critical CMH LLC Evaluates Data Center Development in Big Darby Watershed
Karis Critical CMH LLC is assessing a 127-acre site in Prairie and Brown townships for a potential data center, despite current zoning restrictions. The property is primarily designated for mixed residential and commercial use under the draft Big Darby Accord, which aims to protect the watershed's ecology.

Karis Critical CMH LLC acquired land in the Big Darby Creek watershed for approximately $2 million in December 2024. The site, located near Amity Road, is not currently zoned for industrial use according to the 2006 land use map and the draft Big Darby Accord.
Although the company is exploring development options, the property is primarily designated for mixed-use with residential and commercial development. Local officials from Prairie Township are preparing regulations in anticipation of potential development and expressed the need for strict controls.
The City of Columbus has not received any formal requests regarding the site. The outcome of this situation may influence future industrial development in the watershed, highlighting the tension between ecological preservation and economic growth.
