Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Enhance Rare Earth Metals Cooperation
Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have initiated a partnership to expand cooperation in rare earth metals, focusing on geological exploration and processing. This collaboration aims to elevate both nations' positions in the global mineral value chain.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have established a joint working group to enhance cooperation in rare earth metals, with the inaugural meeting held in Kazakhstan. The discussions, co-chaired by Iranian Sharkhan and Rustam Yusupov, emphasized bilateral efforts in geological exploration and critical minerals processing.
The agenda included technology exchange, joint ventures, and international investment mechanisms. A permanent working group will be formed with subgroups from the private sector and academia to foster a multidisciplinary approach. This initiative aligns with Uzbekistan's efforts to attract investment, highlighted by Traxys's recent $1 billion commitment for tungsten and molybdenum projects.
