Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on January 6, 2026, designating the year as the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence. This initiative aims to enhance Kazakhstan's knowledge-based economy through comprehensive digitalization programs overseen by the Presidential Administration.
Tokayev has prioritized digital infrastructure modernization, aiming for a fully digital state by 2028. Key reforms include the establishment of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, which replaced the former Ministry of Digital Development, and the launch of platforms like QazTech.
Kazakhstan plans to export Earth observation satellites worth $75 million by the end of 2026, enhancing its position in the space sector.
