Kent Solar Farm Project Progress and Environmental Impact
The Chalkpit Solar Farm in Kent, operated by Greentech, aims to supply energy for over 7,600 homes and reduce CO2 emissions by 10,000 tonnes annually. Completion is expected by October, with a lifespan of 40 years.

The Chalkpit Solar Farm, developed by Greentech, is projected to generate about 29,700 MWh of renewable energy per year, powering over 7,600 homes in the Dover district. The facility will contribute to a significant reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 10,000 tonnes annually and is designed to operate for 40 years.
Construction began in December 2022, following planning permission from Dover District Council in November 2022. The project includes various infrastructure elements such as transformer stations and battery energy storage.
Additionally, it incorporates biodiversity initiatives, including a four-hectare wildflower meadow and extensive hedgerow and tree planting. Local opinions are divided on the project, citing concerns about farmland loss versus benefits of renewable energy.
