KGS Group, founded in July 1986 by Helmut Graumann, Demetrios Kontzamanis, J. Bert Smith, and Dave MacMillan, celebrates its 40th anniversary. Initially facing challenges, the firm secured its first major project with Ontario Power Generation.

KGS has since completed tens of thousands of projects, including The Forks Riverwalk and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. A significant achievement was leading the expansion of the Red River Floodway after the 1997 flood. Current president Rick Martin emphasizes the company's potential for continued growth from its Winnipeg headquarters.
