Kildare Residents Participate in Free Electrical Recycling Initiative
A four-day recycling project in Blessington allowed residents to dispose of electrical items and batteries at no cost. This initiative aims to enhance local recycling efforts, as the average e-waste recycled per person in Wicklow remains below the national standard.

The Blessington community hosted a four-day electrical recycling project, enabling residents to drop off end-of-life electrical goods and batteries for free. Organized by the Blessington Allotments Campaign, the Blessington Tourist Office, and RecycleIT, the event aims to improve local recycling rates.
In 2024, Wicklow residents recycled an average of 7.5kg of e-waste per person, below the national average of 9.5kg. Past initiatives include the distribution of 200 free battery recycling boxes in 2025. This project reflects ongoing efforts to promote sustainability in the region, with potential long-term impacts on environmental responsibility among residents.
