ENERGY STORAGEELECTROLYZERHYDROGEN

Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC) confirmed that its Questa hydrogen and solar facility will break ground in June 2023. The project secured $231 million in federal funding and aims to develop a hydrogen hub with electrolyzers and storage systems by 2028.

It is designed to provide long-duration energy storage for up to 25,000 homes, support local economies, and create over 350 construction jobs. KCEC is also collaborating with the Village of Questa on a solar array to boost local revenue. The initiative follows the closure of the Chevron molybdenum mine, aiming to diversify the regional economy.
