Klaipeda Port to Launch Green Hydrogen Production Soon
Klaipeda Port in Lithuania is set to begin green hydrogen production in the coming weeks, following the receipt of a construction completion certificate. With a projected output of 127 metric tons per year, this initiative supports the country's transition to hydrogen energy and aims to fuel Lithuania's first hydrogen-powered vessel.

Lithuania's Port of Klaipėda is preparing to initiate green hydrogen production after receiving a construction completion certificate. The facility, developed by the Klaipeda State Seaport Authority, is in its final installation phase, with testing scheduled before regular production starts by mid-year.
The total investment for the project is €12 million, partially funded by the EU's NextGenerationEU programme. The PEM electrolyser at full capacity will generate approximately 127 metric tons of hydrogen annually, contributing to the energy needs of the upcoming hydrogen-powered vessel. This project marks a significant step in Lithuania's renewable energy efforts, potentially influencing regional energy strategies.
