KoBold Exploration DRC SA submitted five new mining research permit applications to the Cadastre minier (CAMI) of the Democratic Republic of Congo on February 3, following the reopening of the application process. This action aligns with an agreement signed on July 18, 2025, between KoBold and the Congolese government.
Previously, in August 2025, seven permits had been granted to KoBold after applications made in late July. The new permits focus on areas in Malemba-Nkulu and Manono, with plans for surface and subsurface exploration using artificial intelligence to identify exploitable mineral deposits. The targeted minerals include lithium, beryllium, niobium, coltan, and rare earth elements, all classified as critical by the U.S.
