Škoda Auto Invests €205 Million to Open Battery Assembly Hall in Mladá Boleslav
Škoda Auto has opened a new battery assembly hall in Mladá Boleslav with an investment of €205 million, establishing itself as the largest BEV battery system manufacturer within the Volkswagen Group. The 55,000-square-meter facility can produce 335,000 battery systems annually, assembling one system every 60 seconds.
It employs 600 people and uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry, resulting in a 30% reduction in production costs. This facility is part of Škoda's strategy to strengthen the European battery value chain and enhance electric mobility, with a daily output exceeding 1,100 units. The opening was attended by Czech officials and signifies Škoda's commitment to localizing battery production and decarbonizing its operations.
