Kokomo Residents Oppose Proposed AI Data Center in Howard County

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Kokomo residents are opposing a proposed AI data center in Howard County, citing concerns over environmental impacts and increased costs. Community members gathered at the Howard County Courthouse, expressing fears that the center would disrupt local agriculture and raise taxes and water bills.

Governor Mike Braun has indicated support for AI data centers in Indiana, provided they cover their own power costs. The first public hearing regarding the proposal will take place on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in downtown Kokomo.
