KOMERI and Mokpo Maritime University Collaborate on Ammonia Propulsion Research in South Korea

AMMONIA

Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute (KOMERI) and Mokpo National Maritime University have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop ammonia fuel supply and propulsion systems for ships. This collaboration combines KOMERI's research infrastructure with the university's training capacity to train specialists in ammonia fuel systems.

The two institutions will address the safety and engine control technologies needed for ammonia, a promising zero carbon fuel that produces no carbon dioxide when burned. The agreement was signed on March 10 at KOMERI's Coastal Marine Technology Research Center in Mokpo, South Korea.
