KP Group Forms Strategic Alliance to Launch Green Ammonia Production Facility in India
In a significant advancement for green energy in India, KP Group has forged a strategic partnership with South Korea's AHES Co. Ltd. and India's GH2 Solar Ltd. to establish a green ammonia production facility with a capacity of 100,000 metric tons per annum. This initiative is pivotal in promoting sustainable energy solutions and aligns with India’s ambitious national green hydrogen mission.
The memorandum of understanding formalizing this collaboration highlights KP Group's commitment to decarbonizing the industrial sector. The facility will be developed and operated by KPI Green Hydrogen Ammonia Private Limited, a KP Group subsidiary, with AHES and GH2 providing essential technical and strategic support. Notably, AHES will also act as a primary offtaker, ensuring robust arrangements for the green ammonia produced, targeting markets in South Korea, Japan, and additional international locations.
Leveraging renewable energy and infrastructure from KP Group's various entities—including KPI Green Energy Limited, KP Energy Limited, and KP Green Engineering Limited—this integrated approach guarantees a sustainable, low-carbon feedstock for ammonia production. With over three decades of experience in renewable energy and a portfolio comprising 1.9 GW of installed power capacity and 3.9 GW under development, KP Group is well-positioned to lead this initiative.
Key features of the partnership include the production and supply of green ammonia indexed to international pricing benchmarks, ensuring competitive positioning in the global market. The collaboration is set to last for 15 years, reinforcing KP Group’s commitment to a sustainable energy future.
Dr. Faruk Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KP Group, emphasized the transformative potential of this partnership, stating that it sets new benchmarks for green ammonia production and international collaboration. This initiative not only supports India's goals for carbon reduction and renewable energy growth but also positions KP Group as a frontrunner in the transition towards a cleaner energy landscape.
