Former minister K.S. Eshwarappa will lead a protest against the Sharavati Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Shivamogga on February 12, claiming it threatens biodiversity in the Western Ghats. His group, Rashtrabhaktara Balaga, will explore legal action to halt the project, which involves significant blasting activities. Environmentalists argue it violates wildlife protection laws and endangers local wildlife, with over 16,000 trees slated for removal. Eshwarappa plans to pressure the Central Government to deny project clearance.

He stated that the Rashtrabhaktara Balaga will pursue legal avenues to prevent implementation of the project, which involves extensive blasting and threatens local wildlife. Eshwarappa aims to influence the Central Government to deny project clearance and may seek court action.
Environmentalists have raised concerns about the project violating the Wildlife Act and resulting in the felling of over 16,000 trees. The protest will start at Sheenappa Shetty Circle and proceed to the Deputy Commissioner's office.
