KSERC Grants Provisional Approval to KSEB's Resource Mobilization Plan for 2025-36
The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has provisionally approved the Kerala State Electricity Board's (KSEB) resource mobilization plan for 2025-36, which anticipates a 5% annual growth in various sectors and a total contracted capacity of approximately 18,348 MW by 2035-36. KSERC has mandated KSEB to seek prior approval for any additional power purchases and requested further data verification. The plan, prepared by the Central Electricity Authority, emphasizes the need for timely commissioning to ensure reliable energy supply.

The Kerala State Electricity Regulatory Commission (KSERC) has granted provisional approval to the Kerala State Electricity Board's (KSEB) resource mobilization plan for the period from 2025-26 to 2035-36. KSERC requires KSEB to obtain prior approval for any additional power purchases and has requested further information to verify KSEB's data.
The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) prepared the plan in November 2025, in compliance with the Union Ministry of Power's Electricity (Amendment) Rules (2022). The plan anticipates a 5% annual growth in domestic, commercial, public water works, and HT/EHT industries, with LT industries expected to grow at 3.14%.
Total projected contracted capacity for 2035-36 is approximately 18,348MW, including contributions from coal, gas, nuclear, hydro, wind, solar, and energy storage. The report highlights the importance of timely commissioning to meet projected demand and maintain reliable energy supply.
