Kuenz-SK, an Austrian manufacturer of port cranes, plans to invest €5 million in its factory in Kechnec, Slovakia, creating over 200 jobs. The expansion project submitted to Slovak authorities aims to increase the workforce to approximately 400 employees, up from nearly 200.
The factory, impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, has seen revenue rise from €9 million to nearly €21 million, with profits around €2 million. The expansion will increase production space by 20%, from 20,000 to 24,000 square meters, despite a general slowdown in investment among companies. The plant, operational for over 20 years, produces components for cranes and has shifted focus from hydropower plant components due to declining project availability.
