Kupti Project to Undergo Major Overhaul for Increased Water Storage
The Kupti Lift Irrigation and hydropower project is set for a revised detailed project report to increase storage capacity to 6.5 TMC ft. This adjustment aims to meet irrigation and drinking water needs in the Boath Assembly constituency, addressing previous deficiencies in water allocation.

The state government is preparing a new detailed project report (DPR) for the Kupti Lift Irrigation and hydropower project, increasing storage capacity from 5.3 TMC ft to 6.5 TMC ft. Local leaders propose that 3.5 TMC ft be allocated for irrigation across various mandals, alongside provisions for downstream water release and drinking water supply.
The project site, located in a natural valley, supports higher storage feasibility with estimated annual inflows of 19 to 23 TMC ft. Additionally, there are plans to develop the area into a tourism circuit linked to nearby waterfalls. This overhaul may enhance regional agricultural productivity and address long-standing water supply issues.
