Over the past five years, Kyrgyzstan's mining companies have contributed approximately 218 billion soms in taxes, as reported by Akyl Toktobaev, the Minister of Natural Resources. The mining sector plays a crucial role in the economy, representing 12.6% of the country's GDP and over 46% of industrial production.
Gold mining is the primary source of budget revenue, with 26 tons produced last year. Kumtor is the largest taxpayer, contributing 78.2 billion soms. Authorities anticipate growth in production volumes and the development of critical mineral deposits in the coming years, which may enhance fiscal contributions further.
