Kyrgyzstan Advances on Lebedinovskaya Hydropower Plant Reconstruction
Kyrgyzstan's 'Chakan HPP' JSC is reconstructing the Lebedinovskaya Hydropower Plant with a budget of €13.8 million. Financing includes €8.8 million in loans and €5 million in grants, aimed at enhancing national energy security.
The reconstruction of the Lebedinovskaya Hydropower Plant in Kyrgyzstan is being advanced by 'Chakan HPP' JSC, with a total project cost of €13.8 million. This includes €8.8 million sourced from loans and a €5 million grant, secured through agreements with the Ministry of Finance and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The general contractor for the project is China National Heavy Machinery Corporation, with a contract signed on December 30, 2025. Current efforts are focused on ongoing design and pre-construction activities following completed topographic surveys and engineering studies. The initiative aims to bolster the country's energy infrastructure and security through modernization and capacity expansion in hydropower.
