Kyrgyzstan Anticipates Increased River Inflows Post-Snowy Winter
Kyrgyzstan's energy sector forecasts increased river levels due to heavy snowfall, impacting hydropower generation. The Toktogul reservoir currently holds approximately 19.5 billion cubic meters of water, facilitating electricity production.

Kyrgyzstan's Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev announced expectations of higher river inflows following a snowy winter, which could enhance hydropower generation. The Toktogul reservoir's current water volume is about 19.5 billion cubic meters, contrary to reports of 9 billion.
The Kambar-Ata-1 Hydropower Plant project is projected to add 5-6 billion cubic meters of storage, enabling the generation of around 6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. Construction is estimated to take six years, reduced from eight years due to modern technology. This year, river inflows are predicted to surpass those of 2025 due to increased snowfall.
