Lake County Approves $1.72 Million Contract to Modernize Aquarius Pump Station Equipment
Lake County commissioners approved a $1.72 million contract to replace aging filtration equipment at the Aquarius Raw Water Pump Station, a key facility in the county's drinking water system. The contract was awarded to Workman Industrial Services among four bidders.
The project involves replacing two traveling screens from 1985 that filter debris from raw water before treatment. The Aquarius facility supplies approximately nine million gallons of water daily to over 80,000 residents across several communities.
The existing screens have reached the end of their useful life and pose maintenance challenges and risks of failure. The upgrades aim to enhance reliability and reduce maintenance needs, ensuring continuous water service. Construction is set to begin later this year, with efforts to minimize impacts on water operations.
