Lake Resources Advances Kachi Lithium Project in Argentina with Sustainable Extraction Technology
Lake Resources is advancing its Kachi Project in Argentina, utilizing Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology to produce sustainable lithium carbonate. The project is designed for an initial output of 25,000 tpa Lithium Carbonate Equivalent (LCE) and features a robust Mineral Resource of 11.1 Mt LCE. The company reports significant cost reductions and aims for final Exploitation Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approvals by 2026, while navigating challenges related to financing and regulatory processes.

Lake Resources is focused on its Kachi Project in Argentina, which aims to produce 25,000 tonnes per annum of battery-grade lithium carbonate using Direct Lithium Extraction technology. This environmentally friendly method minimizes freshwater use and avoids traditional evaporation ponds.
The project has a Mineral Resource of 11.1 Mt LCE and a pre-tax Net Present Value of US$1,469 million. A reduction in capital expenditure to US$1,157 million for Phase One has been noted. The company seeks final EIA approvals by 2026 and has established a strategic agreement with YPF Luz for power connectivity. Challenges include securing project financing, permitting delays, and the scale-up of DLE technology.
