Landrie Lake Water Utility Seeks Rate Hike for EverWind's Green Hydrogen Project in Nova Scotia
The Landrie Lake Water Utility in Nova Scotia has requested a rate hike to cover costs associated with supplying water to EverWind Fuels' proposed green hydrogen plant. The utility aims to prevent existing customers from subsidizing large users.
EverWind intends to draw up to 10 million litres of water daily, necessitating the establishment of a separate customer class for the company. If the application is approved, existing industrial users will face a 16-23% rate increase starting in July.
EverWind is proposed to pay a quarterly fee of approximately $12,500 to cover infrastructure and operational costs. The utility also received approval for a pipeline to enhance water security and support green hydrogen initiatives.
