On February 7, a landslide at an illegal mine in the southern Democratic Republic of Congo resulted in the deaths of at least 11 individuals and injuries to six others. The landslide was triggered by prolonged rainfall, and the incident, involving illegal copper and cobalt mining activities, was reported only recently.
