LANXESS has signed a three-year agreement with VERBUND to supply 200,000 MWh of green electricity for its German production sites, aiming to cut CO2 emissions by approximately 60,000 tons. The hydropower will be sourced from VERBUND's hydroelectric plants on the Inn River in Bavaria, supporting LANXESS' commitment to achieving climate-neutral production by 2040.

LANXESS signed a three-year contract with VERBUND for 200,000 MWh of green electricity for its German production sites from 2026 to 2028. The agreement aims to reduce CO2 emissions by about 60,000 tons and supports LANXESS' goal of climate-neutral production by 2040.
VERBUND will supply hydropower from hydroelectric plants on the Inn River in Bavaria, Germany, to LANXESS facilities in Bergkamen, Bitterfeld, Brunsbüttel, Mannheim, and Wietmarschen. VERBUND operates 22 run-of-river power plants with a capacity of 1,040 MW in Bavaria, generating 5.9 TWh annually, and has invested approximately 600 million euros in energy projects in the region. LANXESS aims for climate neutrality across its value chain by 2050.
