The plan follows the acquisition of the Jongerius site and aims for energy neutrality.

Larendael plans to develop De Houtense Boerderij, a nearly 35-hectare area in Houten, focusing on sustainable food production, energy, and innovation. The recent acquisition of Essenkade 2-4 allows for the complete execution of the project.
It aims to be a regional experience center for Utrecht, including a restaurant, shop, and natural playground. The area will support startups and innovative agricultural methods, with potential collaboration with a university on research.
Sustainable energy will be generated, targeting energy neutrality, and a data center is being considered to utilize waste heat for greenhouses. The project follows the restart of Plantenkwekerij Jongerius after its bankruptcy in 2025.
