A proposed data center in Logan County may lead to Latham missing out on financial benefits for its school district. The site is within the Mount Pulaski school district boundaries, which means any revenue would go there instead.

Mayor Ted Allen has questioned Hut 8 about how the facility would benefit Latham. Warrensburg-Latham district superintendent Cheryl Warner noted that Hut 8 is considering funding initiatives for students from Latham. Logan County Board representative Kevin Knauer indicated that potential losses for Warrensburg-Latham in terms of property taxes could be several millions.
