Launch of Biobased Washable Kitchen Towels by TotalEnergies Corbion and Yuhan Kimberly
TotalEnergies Corbion and Yuhan Kimberly have unveiled a biobased washable kitchen towel, aiming to replace single-use paper products. This innovation reflects a significant shift towards sustainable consumer goods, combining advanced materials with a commitment to environmental responsibility.
The introduction of a biobased washable kitchen towel represents a key advancement in sustainable consumer products. Developed through a collaboration lasting over three years, TotalEnergies Corbion provided Luminy® PLA technology, while Yuhan Kimberly contributed expertise in hygiene product design.
The towel is made from renewable materials, including a blend of PLA, PHA, and FSC-certified pulp, ensuring durability and washability. It is designed to withstand multiple wash cycles, reducing household waste by offering a reusable alternative to traditional paper towels.
Initially targeted at Asian markets, the product's scalable design aims for broader global adoption, potentially influencing future hygiene product innovations. This partnership exemplifies how bioplastics can be effectively integrated into consumer applications, marking a significant move toward a circular economy.
