Launch of CEB Solar Photovoltaic Scheme for Households in Mauritius
The Central Electricity Board (CEB) has initiated the CEB Solar Photovoltaic Scheme, facilitating solar energy adoption for Mauritian households. This program aims to enhance renewable energy usage, targeting a 60% share in the energy mix by 2035.

The CEB Solar Photovoltaic Scheme allows households in Mauritius to install photovoltaic panels at their expense, including mandatory battery systems for energy storage for at least three hours. Registration requires a Rs 2,000 processing fee, completion of a form, and installation certification submission.
Households can generate up to 10 kilowatts and choose to either use their own electricity or sell excess back to the CEB at approximately Rs 4.20 per kilowatt-hour. Existing photovoltaic installations declared since November will be integrated into this scheme. This initiative supports the CEB's goal of achieving a 60% renewable energy mix by 2035, potentially reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
