Launch of Handbook on Waterbody Conservation by K Malhotra
K Malhotra's new publication, 'A Handbook on Waterbody Conservation,' aims to improve the success rate of water restoration projects in India. Released at the Jal Yodha Samman 2025 event in Bengaluru, the book addresses common engineering flaws and emphasizes community participation in water management initiatives.

K Malhotra, a prominent figure in India's hydropower and irrigation sectors, has launched 'A Handbook on Waterbody Conservation' to enhance the effectiveness of water restoration efforts. The book was unveiled in Bengaluru on March 28, 2026, during the Jal Yodha Samman 2025 ceremony, supported by Niti Aayog and the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
The handbook provides detailed procedures for rehabilitating over 5,000 tank systems, reflecting best practices that survived severe flooding in Tamil Nadu in 2018. It also covers modern techniques for ensuring structural integrity and community engagement, addressing issues that typically shorten the lifespan of restoration projects. The publication could significantly inform policy and practice in water conservation, potentially improving investment outcomes in the sector.
