LBC and Duisport Sign MoU for New Ammonia Terminal in Duisburg, Germany

HYDROGENAMMONIA

LBC Tank Terminals Group B.V. and Duisburger Hafen AG signed a MoU to develop an inland ammonia and CO2 terminal in Duisburg, Germany. The terminal will serve as a satellite facility to LBC’s ammonia hub in Vlissingen, Netherlands.

Ammonia will be transported by barge from Vlissingen to Duisburg, which will include infrastructure for ammonia cracking and distribution. The connection aims to enhance logistics along the Rhine corridor and enable efficient ammonia and hydrogen distribution, with operations expected to start by 2030.

Following LBC's acquisition by Mitsui OSK Lines in March 2025, the company is focused on establishing an ammonia logistics value chain. The LBC Vlissingen Terminal is expected to become operational in late 2028.
