LG Enhances Cybersecurity Testing Capabilities Amid Regulatory Changes
LG Electronics has been designated by TÜV Rheinland to conduct in-house cybersecurity compliance testing under the EU's Radio Equipment Directive. This development will accelerate product launch timelines and improve security for sensitive sectors such as automotive and HVAC.

LG Electronics has received authorization from TÜV Rheinland to perform cybersecurity compliance testing internally, streamlining the certification process under the EU's Radio Equipment Directive. This capability reduces reliance on overseas testing centers and is expected to significantly benefit sectors requiring rapid approvals, like automotive components and HVAC.
LG has invested over seven years in developing its software testing expertise, achieving KOLAS accreditation in 2019 and expanding into cybersecurity testing. The company is also preparing for the EU Cyber Resilience Act, effective in 2027, which will introduce new cybersecurity requirements. LG's proprietary LG Shield framework enhances security throughout the product lifecycle, while ongoing research into post-quantum cryptography aims to mitigate future threats from quantum computing advancements.
