Shandong Li Auto Battery Co., Ltd. was registered on October 13, 2026, with a capital investment of RMB 300 million ($42 million). The joint venture, owned equally by Li Auto and Sunwoda Power Technology, will develop, produce, and sell lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, targeting mass production by 2026.
This initiative is a significant part of Li Auto's strategy to ensure a self-sufficient supply chain, enhancing its position in the battery market. The collaboration may impact the competitive landscape as companies seek to secure battery manufacturing capabilities amid rising EV demand.
